Explorelations

Stepping into Explorelations is a break from our automatic experience of life. The paintings and drawings that construct the installation invite us to question not only our relation to art, but also our presence within our temporal, spatial, and social surroundings. In a world where real contacts with others are constantly mediated and drastically reduced, Explorelations is a call for remembering what it is to physically exist in time, space, and in the midst o other humans.

HIPnotize
A group exhibit featuring work by Mary Larsen, Caroline Padgett, Alexandra Clotfelter, Christa Rosenkranz, and Anna Cooper

HIPnotize is a combination of multi-media two-dimensional work and live belly dance performances by local artists who wish to express their enthusiasm for this form of dance. The female figure and dance have been paired together by societies all over the world for thousands of years. Belly dance is just one example of this pair that particularly emphasizes the beauty, grace, sensuality, and mesmerizing power of a woman in motion. The pieces in the show depict dynamic moments in belly dancing that captivate the spectator and accentuate the curves of the dancer. Pairing the two-dimensional pieces with live dancing will allow a look into the artist’s transition between the inspiration and the finished piece.

A Seasonal Benefit for Desotorow Gallery Hosted by Christian Depken of Le Chai
