HISTORY

Desotorow Gallery has developed a reputation over the years as one of the most unique galleries in Savannah, hosting weekly art shows and participating in Savannah’s First Friday Gallery Hop. Located in the Starland Design District, Desotorow is one of several small businesses on De Soto Avenue. After operating as an artist co-op and music venue for a number of years, the space was picked up by a group of motivated and passionate students and has been fully operating since.

In April of 2008, Desotorow incorporated as a nonprofit organization in the State of Georgia and became a 501(c)(3) public charity.  The gallery is staffed by a group of committed volunteers who work hard to keep Desotorow a fun, yet professional exhibition experience. The gallery’s intention is to encourage emerging and professional artists to exhibit their work at an affordable cost, to provide opportunities for artists as they continue their artistic pursuits, and to engage the community by providing high quality and professional exhibitions.
